Haryana Government Imposes Ban on transfers of officers and employees involved in Municipal Elections

The Haryana government has issued instructions to impose a ban on the transfer or appointment of state government officers and employees involved in the municipal elections, which are scheduled to be held on March 2 and 9. This ban will remain in effect until the declaration of election results. 

However, if it is deemed necessary to transfer any officer or employee associated with the elections, prior written approval from the State Election Commission will be mandatory.

Chief Secretary Dr. Vivek Joshi has issued orders to this effect today. It is noteworthy that general elections are scheduled to be held for the Mayors and councilors of all wards in 8 Municipal Corporations, as well as for the Presidents and councilors of all wards in 4 Municipal Councils and 21 Municipalities. 

Elections will also be held for the post of Mayor in the Municipal Corporations of Ambala and Sonipat, President of Municipal Council Sohna (Gurugram), Municipal Committee Assandh (Karnal), and Ismailabad (Kurukshetra). Apart from this, elections are to be held for councillors of ward number 11 of Nagar Palika, Ladwa (Kurukshetra), ward number 14 of Nagar Palika, Safidon (Jind) and ward number 5 of Nagar Palika, Taraori (Karnal). 

Except Municipal Corporation Panipat, elections in all the municipal bodies will be held on March 2 while election for Municipal Corporation Panipat will be held on March 9. Except Municipal Corporation, Panipat, nomination papers will be filled from February 11 to February 17. 

Meanwhile, there will be holidays on February 12 and February 16. Nomination papers for Municipal Corporation, Panipat will be filled from February 21 to February 27. During this, there will be holidays on February 23 and 26.
