The Haryana Government has decided to commemorate Constitution Day on November 26 with year-long celebrations, marking the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Indian Constitution. A state-level function will be organised in Kurukshetra on November 26 to celebrate the Constitution Day. Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini will be the Chief Guest on the occasion.

In this regard, Haryana Chief Secretary Dr. Vivek Joshi chaired a meeting with concerned Deputy Commissioners, Vice Chancellors and senior officials of universities via videoconferencing today and directed them to organise events on November 26 to celebrate the Constitution Day.

Highlighting the significance of this historic milestone, Dr. Vivek Joshi said the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution is a fitting occasion to honour and acknowledge the contributions of the founding fathers of our Constitution. The commemoration aims to reiterate the core values enshrined in the Constitution of India and inspire citizens to play their rightful role in strengthening democracy, he added.

The Deputy Commissioners and Vice Chancellors informed the meeting that various events like quiz competitions, debates, poster-making contests, guest lectures, film screenings, wall paintings on Preamble etc. have been planned to celebrate the Constitution Day.

Gram panchayats will also be involved in the initiative and mass reading of the Preamble in panchayats and Amrit Sarovar sites in rural areas will be organised. ‘Samvidhan Swabhimaan Yatras’ will be carried out in the state from April 14, 2025 to April 28, 2025 to propagate the contribution of Baba Saheb Dr. BR Ambedkar.

The Chief Secretary emphasised that the events must involve NGOs, students, faculty members, Constitutional experts and prominent people of society for greater public participation and outreach on the anniversary of 75 years of adoption of the Constitution. He said the celebration would also raise awareness about the efforts behind the drafting of the Constitution and highlight its key provisions.

The year-long initiative will be conducted under the tagline ‘Hamara Samvidhan, Hamara Swabhimaan’ and revolve around four central themes: Preamble of the Constitution, Know Your Constitution, Making of the Constitution and Celebrating the Glory of the Constitution. Common citizens are also encouraged to participate in this campaign and they can upload their selfie on the website constitution75.com.

Additional Chief Secretary, School Education, Sh. Vineet Garg; Principal Secretary, Heritage and Tourism, Smt. Kala Ramachandran; Director General, Information, Public Relations, Languages & Culture, Sh. K Makarand Pandurang; Special Secretary, Personnel, Training and Parliamentary Affairs Sh.
