Ahead of the 2024 General Assembly Elections in district Baramulla, the District Election Officer (DEO) Baramulla, Minga Sherpa carried out a detailed inspection of the Receipt/ Dispatch (Intermediate Strong Room) designated for the 13-Pattan Assembly Constituency (AC).

The visit aimed to evaluate the infrastructure, logistics, and security measures established for the secure storage of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines, and other critical election materials.

The DEO thoroughly examined the comprehensive security protocols in place for the Strong Rooms, including CCTV cameras, provision of uninterrupted power supply, 24/7 security, and other measures, all in line with Election Commission of India guidelines.

During the visit, the DEO stated that these Strong Rooms have been set up with robust security measures, including continuous monitoring by armed personnel. Minga Sherpa further informed that CCTV cameras have been strategically placed throughout the facility to improve surveillance and emphasized the need to uphold these security measures at all times, in strict compliance with ECI guidelines.
