Rayat Bahra University successfully organized the seventh edition of its National Moot Court Competition focusing on the theme of Domestic Violence. A total of 16 teams from seven states and one from NCR Delhi participated in the Competition. Justice Archana Puri, Judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, was the Chief Guest and Justice Paramjeet Singh Dhaliwal, Justice Vivek Puri, former judges of Punjab and Haryana High Court, Advocate Vikas Chatrath and senior advocate Anu Chatrath, Punjab and Haryana High Court, addressed the valedictory function and felicitated the winners and participants.

Justice Puri emphasized the importance of the social problem of domestic violence in moot issues that are being addressed by students through participation in the moot competitions. The judges in their address stated that the prevalence of domestic violence against women was on the rise. The nature and manifestations of domestic violence differed from culture to culture and society to society.

She said a significant percentage of women who are victims of domestic violence were members of lower castes. Furthermore, instances of physical violence were more prevalent; primary catalysts for domestic violence were economic. By fostering a cohesive network among various stakeholders, including the judiciary, government, police personnel, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), health care support providers, counsellors, service providers, and protection officers, the prevalence of domestic violence could be diminished, she added.

Marwadi University, Faculty of Law, Rajkot won the trophy and CT Institute of Law, Jalandhar was adjudged as the runner-up.  Aabha of CT Law Institute, Jalandhar, Amanpreet Singh, BR Ambedkar National Law University, Sonipat and Marwadi University, Rajkot won the Best Speaker, Best Researcher and Best Memorial prizes.

Gurvinder Singh Bahra, Chancellor of Rayat Bahra University, congratulated the University Law School fraternity. Vice-Chancellor Dr Parvinder Singh applauded the students and faculty of Law School for the success of this event. The festival was not just about academic learning but also about fostering camaraderie and team spirit.

The national moot court competition took place in tandem with the law festival 'Jurisfesta', where students engaged in cultural activities and contests like debates, quizzes, client counselling, poster creation, slogan writing, and dancing. The competitions focused on current legal topics, including live-in relationships, human rights, women's rights, and alternative dispute resolution. 

The cultural event, with a musical performance by Jatin Sangiri and a fashion show, captivated all attendees. The law fest and national moot court competition were organized by Dr MS Bains, Dean of the Law School, together with Mandeep Kaur, Head of Department, and Bharti Dogra, Nidhi, and Sushant Passi, student conveners.
