The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Shakeel ul Rehman on Wednesday conducted an extensive tour of various religious places in the district ahead of Jumat ul Vida, Shab i Qadar and Navratri. The DC was accompanied by SSP Bandipora Lakshay Sharma, DyDEO Mohammad Rafeeq Bhat, ACD Mumtaz Ahmad Pir and other officers.

On the occasion, the DC visited Ahamshareef Shrine, Markazi Eid Gah, Bandipora and Sharda Temple, Kaloosa. He met representatives of religious organisations to review the arrangements for the upcoming religious festivals.

At Ahamshareef shrine, the concerned from the Waqf board apprised the DC about various arrangements put in place for the upcoming Jumat ul Vida and Shab-i-Qadar. At Sharda Temple Kaloosa, the DC met pandit community members to take stock of facilities available.

On the occasion, the DC undertook a thorough review of arrangements to ensure a vibrant and safe observance of Navratri festival. He directed the concerned departments to ensure cleanliness in the temple surroundings besides ensuring all necessary facilities.

He also took stock of ongoing construction of Yatri Nivas at Sharda Temple. The DC also visited Markazi Eidgah Bandipora and took stock of various aspects, including sanitation, and provision of essential services to ensure the safety, comfort, and convenience of worshippers and participants in the upcoming festivals.

During the visit, the DC emphasized adequate measures for sanitation, uninterrupted electricity, regular and safe drinking water supply, security arrangements, traffic management, checking on rates and quality of food items, parking and medical facilities etc. The DC directed the concerned to ensure all facilities in advance for smooth conduct of festivals and impressed upon functionaries to put in place all necessary arrangements well in time for the smooth celebration of Navratri and observance of Jummat ul Vida and Shab e Qadar.
