On the directions of District Election Officer (DEO) Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan, mega Voters Awareness programs under the (SVEEP) initiative were today organized at different educational institutions (venues) of the district.

The programmes were organized to raise awareness about various voting-related activities and promote electoral literacy among citizens, especially first-time voters in the run up to the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.

Mega Voters Awareness programs under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) initiative were organized by Nodal Officer SVEEP/CEO Kupwara at Govt. Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Warsun, GHSS Trehgam and GHSS Ring Payeen (Machil), close to LoC.

The events were attended by the principals, teachers, and students from different schools, officials from various departments, general public, first time voters, community leaders, local artists and other target groups.Participants were enthralled by colorful skits presented by students who highlighted the importance of voting.

Scintillating cultural performances presented by local artists enthralled the participants. Interactive sessions designed to educate the target groups inspired the young voters to actively participate in the democratic process. Voter Pledge ceremonies under SVEEP were also held where participants took the pledge to vote enthusiastically in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

As a token of appreciation, achiever students were felicitated with appreciation certifications.  Plantation drive during the events was also organized. Mass awareness regarding electoral participation was generated through painting and Quiz competitions.

Speaking at the events, concerned Cluster Heads and Resource Persons emphasized on the significance of electoral literacy in empowering citizens and urged everyone, especially first-time voters, to exercise their franchise responsibly in the upcoming elections.
