Deputy Commissioner (DC) Aashika Jain said on Thursday that women's contribution is crucial to building a strong and vibrant nation as well as safeguarding the democracy in the country. Addressing the female staff of Quadrant Televentures Limited (Connect Broadband) at Mohali to observe International Women's Day, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized that the active participation of women in politics results in tangible gains for democratic governance, including greater responsiveness to citizens' needs.
The Deputy Commissioner said that nobody understands the significance of the elections more than the females and the aim of this event is to acknowledge the dogged commitment and dedication of female staff towards their work. They not only manage household tasks but also perform their professional duties efficiently.
She said that women inspire everyone to dream big. People greatly draw inspiration from them to set a benchmark in their professional and personal lives. Our daughters or women stepping out of their homes daily and strive to do their best work.
Citing an example of the United States of America granting women voting rights after a 200-year struggle, the DC said that women faced many uphill tasks to secure their rights. She urged women to pledge to work more dedicatedly to provide a safer atmosphere for all women around them.
She exhorted female staff to ensure that women's participation does not lag behind in the forthcoming elections. She stated that the active participation of women in polls will push the elected representatives to formulate more pro-women policies and provide them a safer environment. The DC announced that a hostel for working women in Mohali will soon be opened to offer a safer place for females working in the region.
Aashika Jain was joined by the senior management of Connect Broadband who also emphasized the role a woman plays in shaping the overall society. Mrs Jain also acknowledged the role of Connect Broadband in providing seamless internet related services across the state from last so many years.

ਡਿਪਟੀ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ ਆਸ਼ਿਕਾ ਜੈਨ ਨੇ ਵੀਰਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੋਕਤੰਤਰ ਦੀ ਰਾਖੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ-ਨਾਲ ਇੱਕ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਅਤੇ ਜੀਵੰਤ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰ ਦੇ ਨਿਰਮਾਣ ਲਈ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਨ ਹੈ।ਮੋਹਾਲੀ ਵਿਖੇ ਅੰਤਰਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਮਹਿਲਾ ਦਿਵਸ ਮਨਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਕਵਾਡਰੈਂਟ ਟੈਲੀਵੈਂਚਰਜ਼ ਲਿਮਟਿਡ (ਕਨੈਕਟ ਬਰਾਡਬੈਂਡ) ਦੀਆਂ ਮਹਿਲਾ ਸਟਾਫ਼ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਬੋਧਨ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਡਿਪਟੀ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ ਨੇ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਰਾਜਨੀਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਗਰਮ ਭਾਗੀਦਾਰੀ ਨਾਲ ਨਾਗਰਿਕਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਲੋੜਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਵਧੇਰੇ ਜਵਾਬਦੇਹੀ ਸਮੇਤ ਲੋਕਤੰਤਰੀ ਸ਼ਾਸਨ ਲਈ ਠੋਸ ਲਾਭ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਡਿਪਟੀ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਹੱਤਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਦਾ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਮਹਿਲਾ ਸਟਾਫ਼ ਦੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੰਮ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ ਵਚਨਬੱਧਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਰਪਣ ਨੂੰ ਸਵੀਕਾਰ ਕਰਨਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਨਾ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਘਰੇਲੂ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧ ਕਰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਸਗੋਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੇਸ਼ੇਵਰ ਕਰਤੱਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਕੁਸ਼ਲਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਨਿਭਾਉਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੇਹਨਤੀ ਸੁਭਾਅ ਹਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਡੇ ਸੁਪਨੇ ਦੇਖਣ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੇਸ਼ੇਵਰ ਅਤੇ ਨਿੱਜੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਮਾਪਦੰਡ ਸਥਾਪਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਣਾ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਸਾਡੀਆਂ ਧੀਆਂ ਜਾਂ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਰੋਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਘਰੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਨਿਕਲਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਵਧੀਆ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
ਸੰਯੁਕਤ ਰਾਜ ਅਮਰੀਕਾ ਵੱਲੋਂ 200 ਸਾਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੰਘਰਸ਼ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੋਟ ਦਾ ਅਧਿਕਾਰ ਦੇਣ ਦੀ ਉਦਾਹਰਨ ਦਿੰਦਿਆਂ ਡੀ ਸੀ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਅਧਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਾਖੀ ਲਈ ਕਈ ਮੁਸ਼ਕਲਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਾਹਮਣਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਪਿਆ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਪੀਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਲੇ ਦੁਆਲੇ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਅਤ ਮਾਹੌਲ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਹੋਰ ਸਮਰਪਿਤ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਸੰਕਲਪ ਲੈਣ।
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਕੱਤਰ ਮਹਿਲਾ ਸਟਾਫ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਯਕੀਨੀ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਅਗਾਮੀ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਭਾਗੀਦਾਰੀ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਨਾ ਰਹੇ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਗਰਮ ਭਾਗੀਦਾਰੀ ਚੁਣੇ ਹੋਏ ਨੁਮਾਇੰਦਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਧੇਰੇ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਪੱਖੀ ਨੀਤੀਆਂ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਅਤ ਮਾਹੌਲ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਤ ਕਰੇਗੀ।
ਡੀ ਸੀ ਨੇ ਐਲਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿ ਮੋਹਾਲੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੰਮਕਾਜੀ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਹੋਸਟਲ ਜਲਦੀ ਹੀ ਖੋਲਿਆ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਅਤ ਥਾਂ ਦੀ ਪੇਸ਼ਕਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਸਕੇ।
ਆਸ਼ਿਕਾ ਜੈਨ ਨਾਲ ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਕਨੈਕਟ ਬਰਾਡਬੈਂਡ ਦੇ ਸੀਨੀਅਰ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਕੀ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਵੀ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਸਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਮੁੱਚੇ ਸਮਾਜ ਨੂੰ ਆਕਾਰ ਦੇਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਲਾਘਾ ਕੀਤੀ। ਸ਼੍ਰੀਮਤੀ ਜੈਨ ਨੇ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਕਈ ਸਾਲਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਰਾਜ ਭਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੰਟਰਨੈਟ ਨਾਲ ਸਬੰਧਤ ਸੇਵਾਵਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਨੈਕਟ ਬਰਾਡਬੈਂਡ ਦੀ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਸਰਾਹਿਆ।
