The air buzzed with excitement and the aroma of spices as the Chandigarh College of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (CHMCT) hosted a vibrant culinary competition, "Flavours of India," on its campus today. Presented by Better Kitchen and Everest, the event saw 47 teams from 30 colleges across Punjab, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh battle it out for culinary glory.

The competition offered two distinct battlegrounds: the Kitchen Culinary Challenge and the Bakery Championship. In the former, aspiring chefs from Ambedkar Institute of Hotel Management, Chandigarh, emerged victorious, followed closely by Punjab University Institute of Hotel Management, Chandigarh, and Chandigarh University.

Meanwhile, the Bakery Championship saw Desh Bhagat University, Mandi Gobindgarh, rise to the top, with Amritsar College of Engineering and Technology, Amritsar, and CCHMCT, CGC Landran, taking the second and third spots, respectively.

These culinary champions now set their sights on the grand finale in Mumbai, scheduled for March 2024. This annual event serves not only as a prestigious platform for budding chefs to showcase their talent, but also aims to shine a light on regional Indian cuisine and its diverse ingredients on the world stage.

Renowned personalities like Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President of CGC Landran; Ms. Ekta Bhargava, Publisher of Better Kitchen magazine; and Dr. Rajeev.R. Mishra, Director-Principal of CCH, CGC Landran, graced the occasion with their presence.

A panel of esteemed chefs, including Chef Anuj Kumar Singh from Taj Chandigarh, Chef Ankur Sharma from Hyatt Regency, Chandigarh, and Chef Avanish Jain from (IHG) Holiday Inn, Zirakpur, meticulously assessed the participants' creations. Judging criteria focused on the utilization of ingredients, culinary innovation, presentation finesse, and adherence to the "Flavours of India" theme.
