The best of dairy farming practices may soon find resonance in district Barnala with Dutch dairy expert giving training to the Women Farmer Producer Companies (FPC) set up in the district villages. Giving information here today, Deputy Commissioner Barnala Mrs Punamdeep Kaur told that  Grant Thornton Bharat and HDFC Parivartan are runing women FPCs in the district wherein a number of women are enrolled with the FPC and create and sell their own products. 

She added that now through Grant Thornton PUM (Programma Uitzending Managers) Dutch dairy expert, Mr Ad Merks has collaborated to teach best practices in dairy farming to the women of Chardikala Women FPC Kotdunna and Mata Bhago Women FPC village Bhotna.

Sharing his experiences with the Deputy Commissioner, Mr Ad Merks said that during his visit to villages Kotdunna, Bhotna, Rureke and Sehna in district Barnala he has observed that women are keen on expanding their dairy production but need right directions. During his visit to the villages, he has been advocating for comfortable and clean environment for animal, so that it could give higher milk production and that too of good quality. 

He is also advocating on proper care, nutrition and health management of dairy livestock. Mr Ad Merks is laying emphasis on sustainable dairy practices such as not tiring animal by making it stand for toolong and by proviiding the best of animal feed. 

He said that women are more adapted to run dairy business efficiently as they are able to care for animals in a better manner. He appreciated the Punjab govenrment for efforts like Coooperative Verka that has written new chapter in milk production and continues to develop by leaps and bounds.

It is pertinent to mention here that Grant Thornton Bharat  is working in districts of Barnala, Moga, Rupnagar and Ludhiana engaging 27000 women’s beneficiaries. It works with women employed in agriculture sector.
