Fortis Hospital, Ludhiana organized a CYCLOTHON, in association with Hero Cycles Ltd to raise awareness on heart health on the occasion of the World Heart Day. Cycling regularly is one of the easiest ways to enhance heart health as it reduces the risk of cardiovascular diseases.

The CYCLOTHON was attended by Sardar. Fauja Singh, Retired Marathon Runner, Dr. Vishavdeep Goyal, Zonal Director, Fortis Hospital, Amritsar and Ludhiana, Dr. Paramdeep Singh Sandhu, Cardiologist, Dr. Sandeep Chopra, Cardiologist, Dr. Nikhil Bansal, Cardiac Surgeon, Dr. Manender Kumar, Cardiac Anesthetist, Mr. Narayan, Sr. G. M. Marketing, Hero Cycles Limited, and Mr. AP Singh, Head Administration, Fortis Hospital Ludhiana.

The CYCLOTHON was flagged off at 6:15 AM and witnessed participation from over 300 cycling enthusiasts. The participants were provided with certificates for their support. In tune with Fortis Healthcare’s ethos of patient safety and quality care, this event encouraged physical activity and provided participants with nutritious breakfast, T-shirts and medals.

Sardar Fauja Singh, Retired Marathon Runner, said, "I'm pleased to be a part of the World Heart Day CYCLOTHON. Cycling is a great way to promote physical activity. Exercising isn't just about keeping fit; it's about keeping the heart strong. 

The initiative was a fun way to encourage people of all age groups to incorporate exercise in their daily routines.” Dr. Paramdeep Singh Sandhu, Cardiologist, Fortis Ludhiana, said “Cycling is an aerobic exercise; it increases the heart rate, which ensures proper blood circulation. 

Cycling on a regular basis is a great way to keep our hearts healthy. It not only improves our heart health but also enhances our mental health by reducing stress.”

Dr. Sandeep Chopra, Cardiologist, Fortis Hospital, Ludhiana said “Prevention is better than cure when it comes to heart ailments. Recently, we have witnessed an upsurge in sudden cardiac arrests in youngsters. The primary reason being the sedentary and unhealthy lifestyle. People should adopt a healthy lifestyle with balanced diet, regular exercises.”
