Asmita Khelo India Women’s 3X3 Basketball League 2023 with the theme of achieving sports millstones by inspiring through action began at indoor Basketball courts at Guru Nanak Stadium Ludhiana.
Gurpreet Singh Toor, AN Ex DIG while inaugurating the league appreciated the efforts of PBA & DBA which collaborated with the Khelo India. In this tournament only U-18 Girls play Basketball 3X3 format.
More than 60 matches were played by 24 teams on day one.Every team has to play 3 matches. Tomorrow the Quarter Final and Final Matches will be played.
Present on the occasion were Rakesh Kumar Solanki (Khelo India), Madam Sonia(Sr Judo Coach SAI), Col Harvir Singh Gill and many Distt Basketball Association members viz J P Singh ,President , Vijay Chopra (VP), Brij Bhushan Goyal ,Treasurer, Sumesh Chaddha and Avinish Aggarwal. Teja Singh Dhaliwal Gen Sec. PBA praised the Sr coaches Rajinder Singh , Saloni, Narinderpal , Sukhvinder Singh and Ravinder Gill who at short notice made all the arrangements for the 2 day league tournament .
Goyal of DBA requested GOI to come forward wholeheartedly with more funding to promote basketball in Punjab as it has caught the fancy of Punjab’s youth . Already many a girl from Punjab have been selected for National Camps for training.
