Punjab State Rural Livelihood Mission is proving to be a boon for the poor and needy women of District Moga.  Extremely poor women are strengthening their economy by joining self-help groups, apart from managing their family's daily bread in a better way.

At present, Women of more than 16 thousand families are involved in this mission in Moga district. Women who join self-help groups are given skill training and are helped to establish employment by making loans at cheap interest rates from banks, with which they can avoid the expensive interest loans of the market and can also raise their economy.

Mrs Anita Darshi Additional Deputy Commissioner (RD)  said that under this mission, the standard of living of poor, illiterate or less educated women living in the village is raised by providing means of livelihood through Self Help Group.  Considering the importance of this scheme, more and more women will be included in this mission so that the economic condition of their family can be strengthened and their daily bread can be managed easily.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner said that by working at the ground level, more than 39,000 women of families will be connected with self-help groups and their families will be fed daily. The Additional Deputy Commissioner said that large-scale marketing will also be provided to handicrafts made by women of self-help groups, such as kotis, sweaters, pickles, mustard oil, coconut oil, home decoration items, turmeric, pepper, masala, etc.

Guidelines have also been issued for uploading selected best products of self-help groups on the Make in India website so that they can be sold at cheaper rates than the general market. So that the women of the self-help group can get a solid means of livelihood.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner said that new projects will also be started soon by providing modern occupation training to these self-help groups. Meanwhile, ADC Mrs Anita Darshi called a meeting of the staff of Rural Livelihood Mission Moga to connect more and more poor and needy women of District Moga with Self Help Groups.
