An exceptional feat in the middle of Natural Calamity has been accomplished in Samana, where more than 50 people were rescued and more than 10000 people were given cooked food and dry ration kits. Early warnings were issued to people likely to be affected villages as and when reports of heavy rainfall in the catchment area were received.

But, the area witnessed unprecedented inflows of water, which, some claim is even more than the level witnessed in the 1993 Floods. It demanded unusual efforts on the part of relief givers.

Divulging more details the SDM Samana Charanjit Singh said that under the guidance of Information and Public Minister Chetan Singh Jouramajra, who is the MLA of the constituency and Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney, we started the rescue operations immediately before the alarming situation.

As per the directions of CM Bhagwant Mann and Minister Chetan Singh Jouramajra, a heroic joint effort was made by the Administration namely the SDM Samana, Revenue Officials, Rural Development Officials, Food Supply Officials, Police Officials and staff thereof. Along with the Administration, Volunteers, Locality and Party Workers of all parties, and religious groups worked shoulder to shoulder ignoring their differences, added DC Patiala, Sakshi Sawhney.
