Deputy Commissioner Fazilka Dr. Senu Duggal IAS along with Narinder Pal Singh Sawna MLA Fazilka visited boarder villages along the zero line to review the arrangement to combat the  any flood like situation in this boarder district because due to the heavy rains in the upper parts of Punjab, the large amount of water coming into the Satlej river will eventually reach the areas of Fazilka district through the Hussainiwala head works.

They also held a meeting with the people of the border villages in Mahatam Nagar and asked them to go to the relief camps established at safer places by district administration. SSP Avneet Kaur Sidhu, ADC General Avneet Kaur, ADC Development Mr. Amit Panchal, SDM Mr. Akash Bansal were also present with them on this occasion.

On this occasion, while talking with media persons at Kawan Wali Bridge, Deputy Commissioner said that 55000 cusecs of water has been released from Hussainiwala head works and its early streams arrived in Fazilka district.

But the biggest threat will be the water arriving from Ropar head works and passing through Harike and Hussainiwala will reach Fazilka by Tuesday. Therefore, she appealed to the people of the villages on the lower side of the Sutlej to go to the relief camps set up in safe places.

On this occasion, MLA Mr. Narinder Pal Singh Sawna said that the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is making all kinds of arrangements in the relief camps and the government will provide all possible help to the people in this difficult time.

The Deputy Commissioner said that a flood control room has been set up for these border villages in Mahatam Nagar itself where representatives of all departments will be present and the villagers can contact here for any help. She said that 17 relief camps in total have been set up in the district and people can come to them.

On this occasion, the Deputy Commissioner also requested people not to go for farming across the fencing on international boarder, bathing in the river or for fishing in river for next two or three days. She said that the district administration is using every means to deal with the possible threat and people should also cooperate.

"It is time to come to safe places from the villages where you live, She applealed.On this occasion, she also held a meeting with all the departments at Mahatam Nagar and instructed that electricity, water, ration, fodder for animals, tarpaulins etc. should be arranged in the relief camps.

She said that teams of all departments including medical teams have been deployed in the affected areas.On this occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said that district level flood control room  is operational round the clock and any can dial  01638-262153 for any assistance related to floods.
