Vice Chairman District Development Council (DDC) Kupwara, Haji Farooq Ahmad Mir Monday laid the foundation stone of the Water Supply Scheme Kawari-Harden-Siver in Khurhama area of Lolab under Central government's prestigious flagship programme ‘Jal Jeevan Mission’.

The project, estimated to cost Rs 378.60 crore, will include 60000-gallon capacity Reservoir at Kawari, 120000 Gallon capacity Rapid Sand filtration plant at Harden and 38000 gallon Reservoir at Harden. 

This prestigious project is aimed to benefit a population of around 800 souls of Siver, Harden and Kawari villages.With the commencement of this project, the water shortage issue in the area is expected to be mitigated to a considerable extent.

The project is a significant milestone in the government's efforts to provide clean drinking water to every household, as envisioned under the Jal Jeevan Mission.

During the foundation stone laying ceremony, Vice Chairman, DDC Kupwara was accompanied by Chairman BDC Wavoora, Choudhary Mohammad Rafiq Kataria; Executive Engineer PHE, other engineers of JJM besides local PRIs.
