Strawberry one of the first Horticulture crops of the season in kashmir are grown after six months of harvest winter and are supplied to various parts of northern India including Delhi. The first fruit harvest in kashmir are strawberry and the month of May is called National Strawberry Month.

Every year, farmers cultivate tonnes of strawberries over hundreds of acres of land. The cool, dry climate makes Kashmira perfect place for growing this delicious and exotic berry.Agriculture and Horticulture are the major source of income for the region and farmers in Srinagar grow as many as 11 imported varieties of this fruit.

Strawberries are rich in vitamin C and other antioxidants, which help reduce the risk of serious health conditions like cancer, diabetes, stroke, and heart disease. It's also an excellent source of: Magnesium. Phosphorous.

Many Indegenious teachings are connected to the strawberry and are often called a heart berry because of their shape.The fruit and its leaves are great source of Vitamin C
