Additional District Development Commissioner, Udhampur Ghan Sham Singh today convened a meeting of officers of line departments to review the status  of Jal Shakti Abhiyan, Catch the rain 2023 campaign in the district.

At the onset, SE Jal Shakti R K Mahajan spoke about the parameters of CTR, the latest progress and role of different departments for effective implementation of Jal Shakti Abhiyan, Catch the rain initiative in the district.

The Concerned officers were directed to generate awareness among the common masses to conserve /save water, with a focus on rain water harvesting techniques to utilize rainwater in the District.  

The ADDC asked all the officers present in the meeting to ensure the rain water harvesting initiative is implemented in letter and spirit in the district. He stressed on organizing IEC activity for involvement of the general public in water conservation.Emphasis was laid on motivation of the general public to adopt roof water harvesting and replicate the same for water conservation in their respective areas

.Jal Shakti Abhiyan, Catch the rain 2023 was launched by the Government of India on 4th March, 2023 in all the districts of the country , covering both rural and urban area  with the central theme "source sustainability for drinking water" to bring the necessary focus on sustainability of drinking water supply, specially ground water sources and springs.

 Among others, Chief Planning Officer, Mudassir Yaqoob Zargar, Assistant Commissioner Development, Dr Ranjeet Kotwal and other district officers attended the meeting.
