In connection with organising Gram Sabhas in all Panchayat Halqas of the district, special Gram Sabhas were held in 98 Panchayat Halqas of the District.
The Gram Sabhas were conducted in Panchayat Halqa Heerpora in Block Shopian, Panchayat Halqa Chotipora in Block Shopian, Panchayat Halqa Barbugh in Block Imamsahib, Panchayat Halqa Losedenow in Block Imamsahib and Panchayat Halqa Nadigam in Block Imamsahib Shopian presided over by respective Prabari officers of these Panchayat Halqas of the district۔
Similarly, Gram Sabhas were also held in various other Panchayat Halqas of the district where Prabhari officers presided over the Gram Sabhas.A large number of people actively participated in these Gram Sabhas, during which agenda points along with other issues were discussed in detail and focus was laid on the developmental activities of respective Panchayati Halqas.
People were also made aware about the significance of the Gram Sabhas. Special thrust was also laid on the Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP) adoption and adoption of Gram Sabha resolution. The concerned people of the said Panchayati Halqas were enthusiastic for active participation۔
During the Gram Sabhas, Prabari officers said that the Government is committed to provide equitable developmental benefits in all urban and rural areas of the district and assured that all demands shall be fulfilled step by step and stated that the essence of democracy is that people shall rule themselves and decide for themselves what is good or bad for them.
