DLSA Ganderbal organizes Anti-Polythene Drive & Rally

As the part of three days Solid Waste Management Campaign, District Legal Services Authority Ganderbal in collaboration with Muncipal Council Ganderbal & District Pollution Officer Ganderbal, today organized “Anti Polythene Drive & rally” from Main Market Beehama Chowk Ganderbal to Towheed Chowk Ganderbal. 

The rally marked the first day of Three Days long campaign on solid waste management.  The programme was held under the Supervision of Executive Chairman J&K LSA, Justice Tashi Rabstan, Administrative Judge for District Ganderbal, Justice Moksha Khajuria Kazmi,  Member Secretary J&K LSA, Amit Kumar Gupta and under the guidance of Chairman District Legal Services Authority Ganderbal, Ritesh Kumar Dubey & Secretary District Legal Services Authority Ganderbal, Ms. Nusrat Ali Hakak.

The goal of the drive was to create awareness about “Solid Waste Management” & the harmful effects of polythene and to encourage people to switch to more sustainable options. 

The anti-polythene drive was attended by Secretary DLSA Ganderbal, Officials of DLSA Ganderbal, president Muncipal Council, Ganderbal, Divisional Officer of Pollution Control Committee Ganderbal, Social Activists, Law Students of Central University Tulmulla Ganderbal and PLVs of DLSA Ganderbal.

 Besides the rally was also joined by some Police Officers and Administrative Officers as well. To combat issue of polythene, DLSA Ganderbal also  organized a series of activities in the main market, including awareness campaign, rally, distribution of brochures, posters, jute bags and dustbins among street hawkers and they made aware on spot about its hazardous and to stop its usage. 

While interacting with the media, Secretary DLSA Ganderbal said that the main aim of the programme is to create a behavior change among the people and make them realize that every citizen has a responsibility towards preserving the environment.

It is our collective duty to protect the planet we live in for future generations,”. She further added that in order to ensure the success of the Solid Waste Management Campaign and anti-polythene drive, we encourage everyone to join us in this noble cause. 

By eliminating the usage of polythene bags, we can significantly reduce the amount of waste generated in our city, and contribute to a healthier and greener environment, she added.
