The problem of stubble burning in Derabassi area will be solved  because a boiler has been installed in Nachiketa Paper Mill which has been operated with the use of stubble. The paper Mill would buy the bales from the Farmers.

Therefore, instead of burning the stubble in the farms farmers should make bales of it and make it a source of income. These views were expressed by Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Aashika Jain while visiting Nachiketa Paper Mill.

On this occasion, she also held a meeting with the district administration and paper mill officials.Mrs. Jain asked the officials to sensitize the farmers about the benefits of making straw bales. They should be inspired to get maximum baler machines.

These machines are provided at 80 percent subsidy to farmer groups and 50 percent subsidy to individual farmers. The Deputy Commissioner said that the next week, a meeting of prominent farmers, cooperative societies and other stake holders will held and the farmers will be made aware about the proper management of straw.

She also appealed to the farmers not to burn the stubble so that the environment of Punjab can be made clean and pollution free. Burning of crop residue destroys the organic quality of topsoil as well as other micro-organisms.

On this occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Ms. Avneet Kaur, SDM Derabassi Mr. Himanshu Gupta, XEN Punjab Pollution Control Board Mr. Gurdarshan Gupta, Chief Agriculture Officer Mr. Gurbachan Singh, the owner of Nachiketa Mill Mr. Vijay Mittal and his son Mr. Rohit Mittal and officials of the Mill and various departments were also present.
