District Election Officer/Deputy Commissioner Ms. Ashika Jain has directed the officers to speed up the process of linking voter card with Aadhaar card.During a meeting with the district officers here today, she said that any kind of negligence will not be tolerated in the work of linking voter card with Aadhaar card and the accountability of every officer will be ensured.
She said that strict action will be taken against the officers and employees who will adopte casual approach toworld their duty.While instructing the officers to conduct an awareness campaign to link voter card with Aadhaar card, Ms. Ashika Jain said that vote is a democratic right of every citizen and the process of linking voter card with Aadhaar card is being carried out as per the instructions of the Election Commission of India.
She said that the purpose of this is to provide better facilities to the voters in the future and there is a need to inform the voters about the importance of this. Deputy Commssioner also emphasized on the need for the presence of Booth Level Officers (BLOs) in their respective areas during the compaign .
She also directed to organize special awareness camps to make people aware of the importance of linking voter card with Aadhaar card. Deputy Commissioner also asked the officials to take the help of local workers to carry out this work within the stipulated time. She has also asked to make transparency at every stage by using technology in this work.
Earlier, the officers infrormed the Deputy Commissioner, that Form 6 isbeing collected daily by BLOs to link voter card with Aadhaar card. It is to be noted that the voters themselves can fill Form No. 6 on the voter helpline app and to link their voter card with Aadhaar card. For more information, anybody can dial toll fee number 1950.
ADC (G) Mrs. Amaninder Kaur Brar, SDM, Mohali Smt Sarabjit Kaur, SDM Dera Bassi Mr. Himanshu Gupta, SDM, Kharar Mr. Ravinder Singh, Tehsildar Elections Mr. Sanjay Kumar and other senior officials were also present in the meeting.
