34th Road Safety Week celebrations culminate with Valedictory function at Budgam

A week-long programme on Road Safety ended with a valedictory function held at Sheikh Ul Alam Hall, Budgam. Students from different schools of the district besides Presidents along with drivers from 21 registered sumo stands, PUCC Operators participated in the event.

A thematic play by Raashi Films was also played whereby an attempt to spread awareness about following road safety rules was made. Speaking on the occasion, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Budgam, Dr. Nasir Ahmad highlighted the importance of road safety measures and requested masses to always abide by the basic traffic rules. 

He called for spreading mass awareness about the safety rules and taking corrective measures to make the roads safe for commuters. Dr Nasir also stressed on the concerned officers to take all required measures to decongest the roads to ensure smooth flow of traffic.

Earlier, Sheikh Manzoor Ahmad, Assistant Regional Transport (ARTO) Budgam briefed the audience about the merits of following road safety measures. 

He also informed the hall about activities conducted on the subject matter during preceding week and reiterated that such programmes shall continue throughout the year, so that the ultimate goal of reducing road traffic fatalities and injuries is reduced in the district.

Later, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Budgam, Dr. Nasir felicitated various persons for their adorable contribution to Road safety week. Besides, CEO Budgam Mushtaq Ahmad, Executive Engineer I&FC Ambreen Anjum, DIO Budgam Erum Khan and other officers/officials, PRIs and eminent citizens were present on the occasion.
