ADC Ganderbal reviews arrangements for observation of Armed Forces Flag Day

The Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Ganderbal, Mehraj-ud-Din Shah today chaired the Armed Forces Flag Day Committee meeting to review the arrangements for the observation of Armed Forces Flag Day in the district being celebrated on 7th December every year.

At the outset, the ADC highlighted the role of armed forces for their services and sacrifices towards the nation. He said that since 1949, 7th December is observed as the Armed Forces Flag Day throughout the country to honour the martyrs and the men in uniform who valiantly fought to safeguard the country's honor.  

During the meeting the committee took several decisions towards enhancement of welfare of ex-servicemen, and dependents of ex-servicemen. The chair advised Nodal officer (Assistant Commissioner Revenue) Ganderbal to inform the Concerned Tehsildars and SHOs to visit the families of Martyrs/widows of war before 7th December to enquire about their welfare and wellbeing.

He also urged him to hold the meeting on the first week of every Tuesday of the month with the Zila Sainik Welfare office (ZSWO) in order to place a vibrant Grievance Redressal System at District level. The meeting was informed that space/ Room has been allotted in the Mini Secretariat Ganderbal for establishment of ZSWO.

In the meeting, it was also decided that DDOs/ HODs shall ensure collection of donations from their employees of Rs 200 from Gazetted and Rs 100 from non-Gazetted officials. The meeting also held deliberations for generation and utilization of Armed Forces Flag Day Fund. 

The ADC further impressed that a Voluntary contribution box shall be set up in the DC office by Zila Sainik Welfare officer, in addition to the contribution made by the employees regarding Armed Forces Flag Day.
