The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Budgam and SKUAST-K today organized a one day Training programme on ‘Soil Health Management vis-à-vis Soil Health Card Implementation’ for Senior Extension Functionaries of Line Departments.
Director Extension, Prof. Dil Mohammad Makhdhoomi was chief guest while Dr. Javid Ahmad Wani, Prof. and Head, Div. of Soil Science SKUAST-K Shalimar, Iqbal Ahmad Baba, Chief Horticulture Officer Budgam were Guest of Honors on the occasion.
Moreover Prof. Lyaqat Ali Choudhary, Senior Extension Specialist, DOE SKUAST-K, Sr. Scientist and Head KVK Budgam, Dr. Bilal A. Lone, Scientific besides staff of Kendra along with Senior Extension Functionaries from line departments were also present in the programme.
Director Extension gave detailed information about the Soil Health and its correlation with human health. He also appreciated KVK Budgam for the work done in the District particularly in preparing Bio-Resource mapping and implementation of Soil health card in the district.
Dr. Bilal A. Lone, Sr. Scientist and Head KVK Budgam in his introductory lecture gave an overview of the Programme.Dr. Shazia Ramzan (SMS Soil Science) gave a brief powerpoint presentation on Soil Health management and demonstration of the Bhu-Parishak, rapid soil testing device.
Dr. Javid Ahmad Wani, Prof. and Head, Div of Soil Science SKUAST-K discussed the importance of healthy soil in sustaining life and also spoke about the use of balanced fertilizers.Iqbal Ahmad Baba, Chief Horticulture Officer Budgam appreciated the role of KVK and SKUAST-K in conducting such important and need based training programmes.
