KVK Anantnag organises District Level Mega Awareness cum Kisaan mela

Krishi Vigyan Kendra Doru Anantnag today organised a mega awareness cum Kisan mela  on Natural farming at KVK Doru. Stalls of various departments were installed in the Kisan Mela besides the stalls of SHG, NRLM SHG entrepreneurs added to the charm of the event. 

Director Extension SKUAST Dil Mohd Muqdumi while accompanying the DC Anantnag Dr Basharat Qayoom,  gave a detailed introduction and highlighted achievements in various fields by the SHGs, entrepreneurs, and the departments who have installed their stalls in the mela. 

Director also highlighted the scientific role and contribution of KVK in providing all possible technical guidance, training awareness, etc for progressive farming besides the role played by the SKUAST in over all development of the agriculture and allied sectors. 

Dr Ishfaq Khan, the head of KVK, briefly discussed the developmental scenario of the KVK and the role played by this center for technical support, training, awareness to the farmers of Anantnag and to the SHGs.

He said that the centre is providing support to enable the farmers to adopt ecologically sustainable and economically viable techniques. He laid stress on the natural farming and methods for sustainable expansion in agriculture and allied sectors.

Deputy commissioner Anantnag  Dr Basharat Qayoom while speaking on the occasion said the KVK has done a commendable job and will continue to work for skill development, training and upgradation of the agriculture and allied sector. 

He said that natural farming is the need of the hour and farmers must be equipped with knowledge of natural farming. He thanked the farmer community for their hard work and for providing food to whole human race. 

He further said that modern farmer is educated one and the era is of technocrats and to keep pace with the time and to full fill the market demand, modern farmers must equip themselves with the up-to-date knowledge and  modern technology. 

DC also distributed agricultural equipments among the beneficiaries.Later, Dr Basharat inspected the sale centre of CA&PD and directed AD food for transparent food distribution and ensuring hygienic conditions at sale centres. 

The programme was attended by Director Extension SKUAST, Professor G.A Parray scientists of KVK, SDM, BDO, officials of KVK and other departments besides large no of farmers, SHG etc.
