Krishi Vegyan Kendra (KVK) Kupwara in collaboration with District Administration Kupwara today organized a Mega Kissan Mela cum Awareness camp, here. The mela was inaugurated by District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kupwara, Doifode Sagar Dattatray and Director Extension SKUAST-K,  Prof. Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi in presence of  Director Project Planning and Monitoring SKUAST-K, Prof. Haroon Rashid Naik and Sr. Scientist & Head KVK Kupwara, Kaiser M Malik.

Addressing the function, the DDC appealed the farmers to take benefit of the mega camp by getting proper guidance from agriculture scientists and experts to increase their farm productivity at a minimum cost.

He said that Government is handholding the farmers through different welfare schemes and the need of the hour is that the farmers should come forward and get themselves registered for getting the potential benefits under the schemes.  

He also appreciated the department for conducting the Kissan mela and asked them to organize more such melas in other major areas of the district so that maximum farmers get benefitted. Earlier, the DDC along with other dignitaries inspected stalls installed by different departments showcasing their products and schemes. 

Director Extension, Director Project Planning and KVK Head Kupwara also spoke and highlighted the need for adopting scientific practices in the agriculture for quality production. Various experts and line officers also spoke and provided detailed awareness to the participants regarding their schemes and farmer welfare programmes.  

Among others, Officers from line departments and large number of farmers attended the Kissan mela function.
