Randeep Hooda perfectly fits the character of a Punjabi series. Randeep Hooda is a man on a mission to save his brother in the series. CAT is the crime series' first trailer in which Randeep Hooda features as the main lead. Although the series is being shot mostly in Punjab, the show was also given an ‘official Hindi trailer’ concurrently. When his brother is detained for selling drugs, Hooda's caracter in CAT, a former informant, is forced to infiltrate a drug cartel.

In the one-and-a-half-minute video, Hooda's character, Gurnam Singh, is introduced. He is forced to accept a police officer's offer to work as a mole in an effort to free his brother from the law. In the past, when Punjab was dealing with militancy, we are also shown memories of Gurnam as a young man carrying a gun.

The trailer demonstrates that the show will entangle crime, politics, and family drama. This is Hooda’s third Netflix project, after the action-thriller Extraction, and a small role in Mira Nair’s A Suitable Boy.

Moreover, the director of this series Balwinder Singh Janjua said that “CAT is a very unique story and I am glad we could collaborate with Netflix to bring this story to life. As a writer and director, I will define CAT as a story of relationships - be it family, friendship, or deceit! It's a story set in Punjab and explores two timelines as well as the underbelly and its complexities through well-defined characters. We’ve shot in over 80 locations across Punjab to bring authenticity and flavour to the fore. Working on CAT has been a rewarding journey and I can't wait for the audience to experience it.”

CAT goes beyond the glorified version of Punjab and puts forth an accurate story of a brother’s love, remission, and espionage. Produced by Movie Tunnel Productions in collaboration with Jelly Bean Entertainment, CAT is available in Punjabi, Hindi, and English. This series is going to release on December 9 on the OTT platform Netflix. Along with Randeep Hooda, the series stars Suvinder Vicky, Hasleen Kaur, Geeta Aggarwal, Dakssh Ajit Singh, Sukhwinder Chahal, KP Singh, Kavya Thapar, Danish Sood, and Pramod Pathal, amongst others.
