The Punjab government has issued instructions to ensure compliance of all labour laws and has finalized a coordinated plan to check the exploitation of workers in various industrial outfits and in service industry.Labour Minister Chunni Lal Bhagat today issued strict instructions to the field staff for compliance of all labour laws in its letter and spirit. Addressing the issues raised in a memorandum of Public Works Department’s Field and Works Union delegation, Mr. Bhagat said that it was imperative for the field officers to identify the erring employers and to take strict measures to check labour law violations.Emphasizing on implementation of Minimum Wages Act, Mr. Bhagat said that he has received many complaints regarding non-receipt of minimum wages by workers. He said that SAD-BJP government was fully committed for the welfare of labour laws and it was the duty of labour department to ensure strict implementation of Minimum Wages Act. He said that laxity would not be tolerated and will lead to strong disciplinary action against erring officials as well as owners of the factories.
