Haryana’s Energy, Transport and Labour Minister Sh. Anil Vij has directed the Managing Director of the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) to immediately station a fire brigade vehicle at the Saha Industrial Growth Centre. Sh. Vij visited the Glassware Factory located in the Saha Industrial Growth Centre today to assess the damage caused by a major fire that broke out there yesterday.
During the visit, he was informed that no fire brigade vehicle was stationed within the industrial area. Taking serious note of the matter, the Energy Minister instructed the HSIIDC Managing Director to ensure that a fire tender is deployed at the industrial centre without delay.
He said that “A fire brigade vehicle should be brought and stationed here immediately from wherever possible so that prompt action can be taken during emergencies.” He further directed that a borewell be installed to ensure an adequate water supply for the fire brigade vehicle.
Speaking to media representatives at the site, Sh. Anil Vij said that the Saha Industrial Growth Centre houses nearly 300 industrial units and employs a large number of workers. He noted that a factory in the area had caught fire yesterday and that, upon inspection, he found the unit completely gutted.
He said he had learned that no fire brigade facility was available within the industrial area and had therefore taken up the matter with the HSIIDC Managing Director to ensure that a fire tender is stationed there permanently along with a dedicated water source. “There is sufficient space available here for parking a fire brigade vehicle, and it is essential that such an arrangement be made to safeguard industries and workers from future emergencies,” he added.
It is noteworthy that on the previous evening, a major fire broke out at the Shiv Dayal Sood & Sons Glassware Factory in the Saha Industrial Area, resulting in the factory being completely destroyed by the blaze.
