Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday launched a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab, asserting that its days in power are numbered and that the countdown to its exit has already begun. Citing the BJP's emphatic victory in the Abohar Municipal Corporation elections, he said the result was a clear indication of the political change taking shape in Punjab and expressed confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would form the next government in the state.
Stating that Punjab has suffered immensely due to the drug menace, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini assured that once the BJP government assumes office in the state, not a single person involved in the drug trade would be spared and allowed to operate. The Chief Minister was addressing the OBC Mahasammelan in Abohar, Punjab.
Haryana Public Works Minister, Sh. Ranbir Gangwa, Punjab BJP President, S. Kewal Singh Dhillon, former Punjab BJP President, Sh. Sunil Jakhar and several senior BJP leaders were present on the occasion. Paying homage to Punjab's brave and patriotic legacy, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini lauded the immense contribution of the state's farmers, traders, youth and mothers towards nation-building.
He, however, launched a strong critique of the Punjab Government's much-publicised 'Yudh Nashian Virudh’ campaign, describing it as a complete failure and alleging that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government was more interested in slogans and publicity than in delivering results on the ground. Attacking the Chief Minister, Bhagwant Mann led the Punjab state government on multiple fronts, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that the promise of providing Rs.1,000 per month to women had turned out to be nothing more than a political gimmick, pointing out that even the registration process for the scheme had yet to begin.
He also accused the Punjab Government of subjecting Abohar to blatant political neglect, saying that allocating merely Rs.5 crore to the Municipal Corporation amounted to an insult to the people of the city. He remarked that the Haryana Government had provided more funds than this even to some of its smallest villages.
The Chief Minister said the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had already realised that it would not return to power after the next Assembly elections and that some people were therefore busy "looting Punjab with both hands". Describing AAP as a "gang of looters", he said even party supremo Arvind Kejriwal's much-touted image of honesty had completely unravelled.
Referring to the Punjab Chief Minister, Bhagwant Singh Mann's claim that 65,000 jobs had been provided in Punjab over five years, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said the Haryana Government had provided 55,000 jobs to the youth of Haryana in just one year. Highlighting various welfare and development initiatives undertaken by the Haryana Government, he said that if the people of Punjab place their trust in the policies and vision of Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi in the next Assembly elections, similar benefits could be extended to Punjab as well.
He said that the BJP government would ensure procurement of farmers' crops at Minimum Support Price (MSP), provide adequate compensation for crop losses, create an industry-friendly ecosystem and work towards making Punjab the number one state in the country. Sh. Nayab Singh Saini further said that since Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi assumed leadership of the country, social justice has not remained merely a slogan but has been implemented through both policy and intent.
He noted that the Prime Minister himself belongs to the OBC community and has consistently worked to bring the deprived, backward and economically weaker sections into the mainstream of development. Giving examples, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has never viewed the OBC community merely as a vote bank but has empowered it through meaningful representation and leadership opportunities.
He shared that there are 27 OBC ministers in the Union Council of Ministers under the Prime Minister’s leadership and that five BJP-ruled states currently have Chief Ministers from the OBC community. He described this as a matter of immense pride and honour for the entire OBC community.
The Chief Minister further said that the Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi-led government had granted constitutional status to the National Commission for Backwards Classes, describing it as a historic step that strengthened the rights and institutional standing of the OBC community. He also highlighted the provision of 27 per cent reservation for OBCs in medical and higher education, saying the decision had significantly expanded educational opportunities.
As a result, the number of OBC students in universities, engineering institutions and medical colleges across the country continues to grow steadily. Calling upon members of the OBC Samaj to unite and strengthen the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), he urged them to play an active role in building a strong BJP in Punjab and paving the way for the formation of the next government.
Addressing the gathering, Haryana Public Works Minister Sh. Ranbir Gangwa said that while travelling through various villages during preparations for the Sammelan, he had witnessed the devastating impact of drug addiction on Punjab's youth. He said the pain and anguish expressed by mothers and sisters affected by the crisis was deeply distressing and reflected the seriousness of the challenge facing the state. He added that people across Punjab were waiting for political change and asserted that only the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) could pull the state out of the quagmire of drug abuse.
Punjab BJP President, S. Kewal Singh Dhillon, former state president, Sh. Sunil Jakhar, MLA, Sh. Sandeep Jakhar, Sh. Gurveer Singh Brar, District President, S. Sukhwinder Singh Kamboj and several other leaders also addressed the gathering.
