District Development Council chairman Irfan Panditpuri today reviewed the functioning of poshan (ICDS) Deptt in district Kupwara. Among others, the meeting was attended by District Programme officer Mohammad Ashraf Hakak, CDPO Langate and Tanghdar, supervisors and other functionaries of the department. 

The meeting discussed in length the working of Anganwadi centres, procurement of supplementary nutrition, organising of Anemic camps, camps under village health and nutrition days, service issues of staff, and many related issues. 

The meeting was informed that there are 11 poshan projects in the district having a total 2320 number of Anganwadi centres. It was further given that these centres cater to the supplementary nutrition needs of about 82621 beneficiaries  which includes children of 6 months to 6 years of age, pregnant women, lactating mothers and also adolescent girls. 

Further under PMVVY 1288 a number of pregnant women have been provided with financial assistance of Rs. 5000 each amounting to Rs 64 lacs.Moreover, almost all centres have been provided with safe drinking water and toilet facilities. 

Speaking on the occasion, Panditpuri appreciated the role of the department and asked the field functionaries to redouble their efforts to make the department more vibrant. He called for collective efforts of the society for overcoming malnutrition. 

He said that procurement of the SNP shall be more transparent and asked the supervisors and PRIs to work for this with zeal & dedication. DDC chairman assured full support from PRIs in the endeavour of the deptt.
