The Career Counselling, Guidance and Placement Cell of Government College for Women(GCW), Udhampur  today organised a Career Counselling Session and National Career Service (NCS) Portal Registration Camp by District Employment and Counselling Centre (DECC), Udhampur under the supervision of Prof. Jugal Kishore, Convenor, Career Counselling, Guidance and Placement (CCGP)Cell.

Principal of the college Prof. (Dr.) Monika Sharma was the chief guest. She inaugurated the event by lighting the traditional lamp in presence of Sr. faculty member Prof. (Dr.) Sanjeet Kour and Prof. Kewal Kumar.

Addressing the audience, Dr. Monika Sharma encouraged the students to participate in such career-oriented programmes to enhance their knowledge   about the current employment market scenario.She also exhorted that the National Career Service (NCS) portal is a great initiative by the Govt. of India towards bringing the knowledge of different job opportunities to the fingertips of the students.

Further, she affirmed that the college shall continue to organise such events in future also and the Career Counselling for which Guidance and Placement Cell will  be extended full support for organising such events to update the students on the ever-changing employment prospects available to the graduates.

Earlier, the proceedings of the programme were initiated by Dr.Kamaldeep Kour  and Prof. Yash Paul They  welcomed the Chief guest and introduced the audience to the  Resource Persons, Navdeep Kour, Career Counselling Officer, DECC, Udhampur and Lavnish Sharma, Young Professional, Ministry of Labour and Employment.

 Navdeep Kour, Career Counselling Officer, DECC, Udhampur and one of the resource persons on the occasion, made the students aware about the different counselling and employment initiatives and schemes of the Govt. of India and UT Government, especially the Mission Youth Scheme being implemented by the District Employment and Counselling Centre (DECC). 

He promised to extend all possible support to the college in future also.Lavnish Sharma, Young Professional, Ministry of Labour and Employment, the other resource person, apprised the students about the National Career Service Portal and gave them a live demonstration on the process of registration on the NCS portal and various steps involved in searching and applying for the jobs as per their skills and qualifications.

 More than 120 students participated actively in the event and participated in the online registration drill on NCS portal. Role of the NCC cadets was highly commendable in the management of the events.At the end, the formal vote of thanks was presented  by Prof. Mushtaq Ahmed, Member Career Counselling, Guidance and Placement (CCGP) Cell.Arun Gupta, Dr. Amit Kumar, Prof. Binni Kumar, Dr. Sumit Sharma, Prof. Shama Rani, Prof. Yash Kumar,other members of CCGP Cell were also present on the occasion.
