Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Mussarat Islam, on Thursday chaired a meeting of the District Skill Development Committee to discuss and review the progress made in the implementation of the Skill Development Programme in the district.
Chief Planning Officer, Dr. Kasturi Lal; GM DIC, Subash Anand; CAO, Dr. Ashwani Sharma; CHO Anil Gorka; DSWO, Rahul Gupta; LDM, Rashid Ahmed Sofi; Principal Polytechnic Ramban, Suket Gupta; Superintendent ITI, Ramban, Baldev Kumar; Superintendent Gool, Parvez Iqbal; MGNF, Ramban, Nilesh Sharma and several other officers attended the meeting.
The meeting discussed different aspects of the District Skill Development Plan aimed to enhance the employability of the trainees for better job opportunities.On the occasion, the DC directed the officers to identify and impart new area-specific trades of skills to youth to meet the requirement of ongoing national projects, and local markets, besides enabling them to start their service centres, Agro based and other production units.
He stressed upon the officers to focus on improving the quality of skills to achieve the desired self-employment of the District Skill Development programme. He also asked all members of the committee to visit the technical institutions to assess the availability of infrastructure and quality of training methods.
The DC also directed the Committee members to implement the District Skill Development Plan by involving line departments for widening the ambit of the Skill Development programme under different schemes to create ample opportunities of employment for the unemployed youth of the district.
The DC asked the concerned officer to generate mass awareness about the various centrally benefitted self-employment schemes of the government and motivate the youth to avail the benefits of the same.
