Education Department today organized a mega informative cum colourful cultural programme at Maitra to educate the people about the ill effects of drug abuse under Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan.

Students of different schools from Zone Ramban presented cultural items like skits, Punjabi, Gojri, Dogri, Kashmir, and Phari songs and Nuked Natak which were highly appreciated by the audience.

Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Mussarat Islam was the Chief Guest, and DDC Councilor, Renuka Katoch was the Guest of honour on the occasion.Additional Deputy Commissioner, Harbans Lal Sharma; Chief Education Officers, Dev Anand; BDO, Munir Hussain; Zonal Education Officer, Ramban, Firdous Admed; Principal GMHSS, Ramban, Kawal Krishan, besides other district and sectoral officers participated in the programme.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said that   Nasha Mukat Abhiyan has been launched by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and all the departments prominently Education, Social Welfare, Health, and ICDS organized different informative programmes under the campaign during the month of September across the district which will continue to achieve the target of drugs free society.     

Moreover, the DC said that the main focus shall remain on youth engagement by conducting counseling sessions, especially for the vulnerable and targeted groups. He also complimented the participants and urged upon them to act as ambassadors of the campaign in their respective areas.

While interacting with the students, the DC outlined the objectives of the campaign and said that the Abhiyan seeks to enhance the evidence-based approach towards substance abuse. He added that it intends to reach out masses and spread awareness about substance abuse through various activities like seminars, workshops, community outreach programs, and other similar activities.

The DDC Councillor also highlighted the importance of Nasha Mukt Abhiyan and asked the students to join in the campaign to make Nasha mukt  Jammu and Kashmir,In his welcome address, the ZEO informed that under the campaign, an array of activities has been carried out to disseminate awareness among the people regarding the harmful consequences of substance use.
