To discuss the arrangements for the smooth celebration of upcoming Navratras and Dussehra festivals in the district, Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur Krittika Jyotsna today convened a meeting of officers and prominent citizens of the District here at Mini Conference Hall DC Office Complex Udhampur.

Senior Superintendent of Police, Dr Vinod Kumar; Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mohammad Syed Khan and other senior officers of different departments besides civil society members attended the meeting.

Threadbare discussions were held on various arrangements related to security, Safe drinking water, Power supply; Barricading, First-aid, sanitation, checking of rates, Fire tenders,  Repair of street lights, Lifting of garbage, Deployment of police personnel, Traffic regulation  in the town etc.

Necessary directions were issued to district heads to ensure fool-proof arrangements pertaining to their respective department during the festivals.The DC stressed upon the Police Department to make foolproof security arrangements to avoid any untoward incident during the festive season. 

The CMO was asked to deploy a heath team along with an ambulance for providing necessary health facilities. Xen PHE was asked to ensure regular supply of drinking water besides Xen PDD was directed to ensure uninterrupted power supply during the festival.  

Stressing on maintaining cleanliness in the town, the DC directed the CEO MC to take necessary steps in this regard and also sought the cooperation of prominent citizens in keeping the town clean.Keeping in view the festive season, a committee comprising Tehsildar, Assistant Director FCS & CA, CEO Municipality and Food Safety Officer was constituted to conduct extensive checking of the market to prevent overcharging by the shopkeepers. General public was advised not to park their vehicles on the road side.

Meanwhile, the shopkeepers were also asked to display the rate list of all the essential commodities for the information of the general public.  Further, the Traffic department was directed to deploy an adequate number of traffic personnel at traffic jam prone areas to avoid any traffic congestion during the festival.
