The Teachers' Day celebration week solely dedicated to the teaching community witnessed gala events in the schools of district Kathua.The event concluded with Singing and dance competitions organized at school and zonal levels and felicitation of the recognized teachers.

The mega event started on the eve of Teachers' Day celebrated on the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvpalli Radhakrishnan, the first Vice-President of India and the second President of India, who was also a great scholar, teacher, and renowned philosopher.

To mark the Teachers' Day,  a week-long celebration was started  in schools, colleges, and educational institutions across district Kathua.On day one, a special assembly was organized in the institutions, which was followed by prayers and offerings of floral tributes in remembrance of the great visionary Dr. Radhakrishnan. 

The students and teachers spoke on the life and teachings of Dr. Radhakrishnan as well as other great teachers. The activities of the second-day celebrations were dedicated to the achievements and contributions of great teachers and the role of a modern-day teacher as envisioned in the National Education Policy-NEP2020. 

Many events highlighting the significance of a teacher and honoring their work towards society were organized in the institutions of the district.The schools in the district organized Symposiums on the Role and Achievements of Teachers in society. 

On the third day of the celebrations, students participated in essay writing competitions, poster-making competitions, drawing competitions, debate competitions, and role-playing at the school level. The students and teachers also participated together in fun activities.

Many zonal level representatives such as Block Level Officers, Sarpanches, ward members from different zones of the district visited the schools of their zone and interacted with the staff and students and assured to support the education system and the students in any way possible.

On the fourth day, inspirational films were screened for the school children in the schools, while  plays and cultural events on the same theme were organized in the schools lacking the provisions of the screening, which were thoroughly enjoyed by the young children.

Some schools also organized volleyball matches with mixed teams of teachers and students. Special functions for retired teachers were also recognized in some schools.Chief Education Officer Kathua, P.L. Thapa congratulated and thanked the teachers and students for making the celebration a grand success.  

He said that since the role and contribution of a teacher in building a successful society are immeasurable, 'we as students have a moral duty to make their efforts worthwhile and make them proud by achieving the best in our lives.'
