The Punjab Government established Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRS-PTU), Bathinda (Punjab) will provide a golden opportunity to students to get World class quality technical education, best placements getting prestigious jobs in government as well as private sector, safe, secure and conducive environment for study in the premier institute of Punjab Government.

Updating itself with the changing trends in the era where youth aspiring to study abroad, MRS-PTU has prepared a plan to send the Punjab youth abroad with higher skills and updated technical knowledge, which holds key to future jobs and better employable.This was stated by MRS-PTU, Vice Chancellor, renowned Academician and Researcher Prof. Buta Singh Sidhu at a press conference at Desh Bhagat College in Moga on Tuesday.

He said education should be modernised and brought in tune with the changing trends and requirements of the Industry and Trade.The VC said the university has World class Research Scientists and renowned faculty, which will help the students in realizing dreams in higher education and studying abroad through various pathway programmes initiated by the premier University of Punjab.

Under the dynamic leadership of Shri Rahul Bhandari IAS, MRS-PTU Chairman Board of Governors-cum-Principal Secretary to Government of Punjab, Department of Technical Education & Industrial Training Punjab and University launched various new need based courses in emerging technologies and job oriented initiatives. 

The Admission for Academic Session 2022-23 is open for Engineering, Architecture and Planning, Commerce and Management, Pharmacy, Food Science and Technology, Agriculture, Aeronautical, Aerospace, Computational Sciences, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Skill Development. 

The New Courses started from the Academic Session include Online Certified Courses in Emerging Technologies i.e. Data Science, Blockchain, Programming Languages, Cyber Crime, Machine Learning, Patents & IPR, Business Intelligence and many others.

Giving details on foreign collaborations, Prof. Buta Singh Sidhu said the MRS-PTU under the patronage of Punjab government provides a unique "Enroll Here, Study Abroad" Pathway programme to save the innocent people from exploitation of Travel agents. 

The scheme will prove a boon for students craving to study Abroad.Prof. Sudhu said: "Under the agreement signed by the MRS-PTU with American and Canadian universities, students will get admission in the university at Bathinda and get access to the courses of the universities abroad.

Under its robust international exchange programme, the university has collaboration with top global universities like Wayne State University (USA), Thompson Rivers University (Canada), Synergy University (Russia), University Canada West, Vancouver (Canada), Concordia University of Edmonton (Canada), Vancouver Island University (Canada), Synergy University (Russia), INSEEC (France) and other famous Universities for credit transfer study paving the way for opening doors for the brilliant students aspiring to undertake study abroad.

He pointed out that many agents, working on behalf of foreign institutions, allegedly financially exploited parents and students, but even after getting degrees abroad, students were facing difficulty in getting jobs as many degrees were not even recognised in India.

He further informed that collaborative pathway education programs between MRS-PTU and Wayne State University (WSU), a student after studying in the MRS-PTU for three years will complete the fourth and fifth-year of study at WSU under 3 plus 2 and 3 plus 1 programme. 

After completion of a 4 year course, the MRS-PTU student will get a B.Tech degree from WSU. Besides, under a 5 year programme, both B.Tech. and Master's degrees will be awarded by WSU.It may be mentioned here that WSU is situated in Detroit city of USA, which is best known as the center of the U.S. automobile industry, and the "Big Three" auto manufacturers General Motors, Ford, and Stellantis North America are all headquartered in Metro Detroit. 

After studying at WSU, students will avil ample opportunities of employment in the USA.Prof. Sidhu said technical education plays a vital role in human resource development of the country by creating skilled manpower, enhancing industrial productivity and improving the quality of life of its people.

"At times of impending the 4th industrial revolution with consequent disruptions in both technologies and technical education, we are committed to provide up to - date technical - education and training to enlighten and train young minds to uncover their talent to harness new emerging avenues and opportunities," he said.

The VC said the MRS-PTU secured 4th rank in Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA) in all India in the beginner group and 62nd rank overall, making it a proud institution.The MRS-PTU also focuses on boosting the Agriculture and Food Processing industry, pharmaceuticals Sciences to accelerate the process for providing employment to Youth.

The MRS-PTU also has the state of the Art, Food Testing Laboratory and IDEA (Idea Development, Evaluation and Applications) Lab for Research purposes.The University also initiated various research projects aimed to counter the agrarian crisis in the country by promoting diversification and providing alternatives to farmers through scientific cultivation of medicinal plants, production of nutritional millets and horticulture. 

The students after studying in MRS-PTU will bring in the latest and advanced technologies.Keeping in view the fastest growing aviation industry, The University also started new degree level courses at Punjab State Aeronautical Engineering College, Patiala, B. Tech (Aeronautical Engineering), B.Tech Aerospace among others.

OTHER INITIATIVES OF MRS-PTU

MRS-PTU is set to launch the Food Testing Laboratory to check adulteration, test and certify food items at Campus soon:- In a first among the Technical Universities of the state MRS-PTU will soon start testing and certifying food items at its campus with the setting up of State-of-the-Art Food Testing Laboratory in the University. 

It will empower the University to certify food items for their nutritional value and check for adulteration. The Food Testing Laboratory Project has been approved by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MFPI), Government of India.

Punjab's first State of the Art IDEA Lab:- The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) in association with BCL Industry Limited, Bathinda is setting up Punjab's first 'The State of the Art' IDEA Laboratory on the campus of MRS-PTU, Bathinda. This special IDEA (Idea development, Evaluation and Application) Lab will be known as BCL-AICTE IDEA Lab. MRS-PTU is the first technical university in the country and among 50 top Institutions of the country to have been awarded the IDEA Lab with a grant of Rs. 1 Crore 11 lakhs by AICTE-BCL for setting up.

AIIMS & MRSPTU signs MoU to promote new academic partnership:- Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRS-PTU), Bathinda has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bathinda to promote new academic partnership and started MBA Hospital Administration from the current Academic Session (2022-23) to meet the challenges in the healthcare and Management of hospitals. 

The MoU aimed to initiate joint need based academic, scientific and research programmes collaboration between both the prestigious institutes in the broad area of Medical Sciences, Hospital Administration, Analytics, Engineering and Technology.
