National De-worming Day observed at Ganderbal

The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Ganderbal, Shyambir today inaugurated National De-worming Day by administering De-worming drug to children.The Day was organized by Health Department at District Hospital Ganderbal.

Throwing light on the benefits of school-based Deworming programme, the DDC urged Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to cover all the schools in the district under this programme as majority of targeted children are available at the schools.Highlighting the role of teachers in making Deworming campaign success, Shyambir urged upon teachers to fulfill their role in this programme with enthusiasm and play a part in giving children a brighter future.

Speaking on the occasion, CMO Ganderbal said that all children aged 1-9 years at schools and Anganwadis will be administered Deworming drug (Albendazole) for improved child health, nutritional status, access to education and quality of life.

During the campaign, it was informed that children who could not be dewormed on National Deworming Day must be administered the drug on Mop-up Day on August 17, 2022.CMO Ganderbal, Medical Superintendent Ganderbal besides other officers from health department were also present on the occasion.
