As part of the celebration of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav,  the District Administration Shopian in collaboration with NHPC, today celebrated Ujjwal Bharat, Ujjwal Bhavishya, Power@2047 at village Kathohallan Keller of Shopian.

DDC Chairperson, Bilqees Jan, was the Chief Guest, DDC Vice-Chairperson, Irfan Manhas, Additional District Development Commissioner, Shopian, Manzoor Hussain; General Manager, Lakhmi Chandh along with CPO, Principal, GDC, CEO, DIO, NIC,  Xen and other officers and officials from district administration were present on the occasion.

The DDC Chairperson formally inaugurated the Bijli Mahotsav by lighting the traditional lamp.Addressing the participants,  the chief guest threw light on Ujjawal Bharat Ujjwal Bhavishya and highlighted the key achievements of the district under the power sector. She congratulated and appreciated the tireless efforts made by NHPC and PDD for organizing this programme and for giving their best efforts due to which electricity reached to far flung areas of the district

She said that electricity plays a very important role in our day to day life and there is a need to use it judiciously. ADDC, DDC Vice-Chairman and other speakers also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the achievements of PDD.

A series of cultural performances and a Nukkad Natak was presented by Athar Balpori and Shopian Rounders and school students on the occasion. The department had also installed stalls to showcase activities and achievements in the power sector.

PRI members and a large number of  people from various areas of Kathohallan and adjoining areas also participated  in the said awareness cum Celebratory programme.
