DC Bandipora calls for concerted efforts for successful celebration of “Ujjwal Bharat Ujjwal Bhavishya”

The District Administration Bandipora in collaboration with Power Development Department Bandipora, NHPC and Government Degree College Bandipora on Thursday organised a day-long seminar to celebrate “Ujjwal Bharat Ujjwal Bhavishya” week under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

Chairman District Development Council (DDC)  Bandipora, Abdul Gani Bhat; Vice-Chairperson, Kouser Shafeeq; DC Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad and other senior officers of the district were present on the occasion.Speaking on the occasion, Chairman DDC Bandipora highlighted the achievements of the government vis-à-vis achieving the targets under the programme. 

He said the government has moved a long way in electrifying the remotest villages of the district adding that recently much to the respite of the people various remote villages got electricity for the first time since independence.He said efforts are being made to upgrade the existing power infrastructure besides providing electricity to the un-electrified areas.

The Deputy Commissioner highlighted the  major achievements in the power sector  and stated that augmentation of the power sector including inauguration of Patushai Grid station  besides other grid stations gave a major boost to the power sector in the district. 

He lauded the efforts of the field level workers of PDD who despite challenges work during odd times to ensure uninterrupted power supply.Dr Owais urged people to pay electricity dues on time so that the government can provide better power supply to the people. He said improvement of the power sector is a continuous process and the system is regularly being updated.

He said that PDD has done a tremendous job by providing Electricity to far flung areas where it could not have been otherwise imagined. He stressed on concerted efforts for successful celebration of "Ujjwal Bharat Ujjwal Bhavishya”Dr Owais said that during the week-long celebrations, several programmes are being organised to highlight the achievements over the last years in the power and renewable energy sectors and also the vision of India in these sectors for 2047, when the country completes 100 years of Independence. 

During the programme various cultural events were showcased including nukkad natak, cultural performance, exhibition etc.
