The Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Bandipora, Waseem Raja on Thursday chaired a meeting of concerned officers regarding the infrastructural issues of areas lying adjacent to Wullar Lake.

The meeting discussed various issues related to employment generation and development of the tourism sector in the areas lying adjacent to Wullar Lake including Laharwalpora, Banyari, SK Payin and other areas.

ADC said that Wullar Lake has a lot of potential to provide employment to youth and uplift the whole district. He urged the people to cooperate in maintaining the water quality and surroundings of Wullar Lake.

He directed the concerned departments to put in extra efforts for improving the livelihood of fisherman communities and improving the conditions of the area lying adjacent to Wullar Lake for tourism promotion and employment generation.

Waseem Raja said the administration is committed to revive the pristine glory of Wullar Lake and sought cooperation from locals in this regard.The meeting was attended by Coordinator WUCMA, DFO Bandipora, BDO Bandipora, Officers from PDD, PHE, R&B and Fisheries, Naib Tehsildar Bandipora, representatives of fisherman community from Laharwalpora, Mukdamyari and other concerned areas.
