We have always heard of four blood groups. These are A’, ‘B’, ‘O’ or ‘AB’. Recently, a new blood group has been found in India, which is also the rarest in the world. It is an EMM negative blood group and the blood group has been found in a 65-year-old man from Gujarat who is a heart patient. The new group, found in India, is also the rarest worldwide.

The blood sample has been anointed by the doctors as ‘INRA’. While the first two letters stand for India, the latter two letters display the name of the person who was found with this unique blood sample. According to a news report, the blood samples have been certified by the World Health Organisation (WHO).

The medical community as a whole has undoubtedly been shocked by the newly discovered blood-type INRA. Blood kinds have created history in India before, though, so it's not the only occasion. Additionally, India has already discovered a certain blood type known as the "Bombay blood group." It's interesting that this rare blood group only contains 7000 people.

The 65-year-old patient who was receiving treatment in Ahmedabad after having a heart attack needs blood for heart surgery, according to Sanmukh Joshi, a doctor at Samarpan Blood Donation Centre in Surat. But the samples were forwarded to the blood donation centre in Surat when his blood type could not be identified at the Prathama Laboratory in Ahmedabad, he claimed.

He claimed that after analysis revealed the sample did not belong to any particular group, blood samples from the old guy and his family members were sent to America for testing. The doctor continued, "Thereafter, it was discovered that the elderly man's blood type was India's first and the world's tenth such case of the rarest blood group." Due to the lack of EMM in the blood, the International Society of Blood Transfusion (ISBT) has named it EMM negative.

It has been stated that the person with the unique blood sample can neither donate blood nor can his or her body accept the blood of any other blood type. This is indeed a rare and profound discovery.
