In a move to expedite execution of Delhi-Katra Expressway and other highway projects, Chief Secretary Anirudh Tiwari directed all Competent Authorities for Land Acquisition (CALAs) to take possession of land to be acquired under the projects within a week so that land could be provided to National Highway Authority of India thus paving way for construction works.

During a video-conference with all the deputy commissioners  Chief Secretary Anirudh Tiwari said that CALAs were already told to clear all hurdles and finish the pending acquisition of land in next seven days.He said that in Jalandhar, around 72.9-km stretch of the Delhi-Katra Expressway would be in Jalandhar including 29.06 km in Jalandhar-II, 19.25 km in Phillaur, 13.64 (Amritsar connectivity) and 10.95 km (main alignment)  in Nakodar out of which 43 km had been already  taken under possession.

He asked the concern authorities to further intensify the steps for completing the process as soon as possible since Prime Minister’s office was constantly monitoring the progress under this ambitious project.Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said an amount of Rs 305.02 crores had also been disbursed among the land owners under Delhi-Katra expressway project.

He told them to convene meetings with farmers’ organizations in case of issues and concerns related to acquisition of land.Thori said that a review meeting pertaining to Delhi-Katra Expressway would be held daily to ensure completion of all formalities within stipulated timeframe.

He also reviewed the progress of other National-Highway projects including Jalandhar Bypass, in Amritsar-Bathinda Greenfield Bypass and widening of NH-70 and Adampur flyover.Prominent among present on the occasion included SDMs Balbir Raj Singh, Randeep Singh Heer, District Revenue Officer Jashanjit Singh and others.
