World Environment Day celebrated across Ramban District

Like other districts of the UT of Jammu & Kashmir, the District Administration Ramban today celebrated World Environment Day, 2022 across the district to raise awareness and describe the importance of Mother Nature by planting trees, besides conducting other awareness activities.

On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Mussarat Islam along with ACD, Zameer Ahmed Rishu, CPO, Dr. Kasturi Lal, Deputy District Election Officer, Lal Chand,   CHO, Anil Gorkha launched a plantation drive which was organized by the Election Department in collaboration with Horticulture Department in the premises of District Administrative Complex, Maitra.

Later, the Deputy Commissioner also visited Advanced Centre for Horticulture Development   (ACHD) Farm Govidpora, Ramban and took a brief appraisal about plantation and other environment friendly activities going on there.While appreciating Election, Horticulture, Education and different wings of the Forest Department for organizing informative events on World Environment Day, the Deputy Commissioner directed CHO to focus on enhancement of green cover on available land to strengthen the environment.

 At the Division Forest office, Ramban, the plantation drive and awareness programme was held in which DFO Ramban Dr Rajan Singh, ward members and members of civil society participated.Similar plantation drive and awareness programmes were also held by forest, education, and health departments at Gool, Sangaldan, Dedha and Banihal.
