Decks have been cleared for commencement of Jalandhar-IGI Airport New Delhi as Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will flag off Punjab Government owned luxurious Volvo buses on June 15 for which preparations and arrangements are being made at local Shaheed Bhagat Singh Interstate Bus Terminal.

A high level team of officers from Transport Department including Special Secretary Transport Pardeep Kumar Sabharwal, Director Transport Amandeep Kaur on Friday took a round of bus stand to review the ongoing preparations for the mega event on June 15. 

The transport department has made a detailed program to facilitate the passengers from different districts of Punjab to ensure smooth journey of people from Jalandhar, Amritsar, Pathankot, Ludhiana, Chandigarh, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala and Patiala.

While taking stock of arrangements at the bus stand from where the Chief Minister will flag off the buses, Pardeep Sabharwal said the people could book their seats for IGI Airport New Delhi through websites of Punjab Roadways and PUNBUS.

It was also informed that passengers could book online tickets six months before their journey besides getting manual tickets from the counters at respective bus stands three months before their date of travel. The passengers will travel to their destination by paying reasonable charges as compared to other private transports.

Officials of the Transport Department informed that daily seven Volvo buses would ply to Delhi airport from Jalandhar at different times with starting from 7:40 am, 11:00 am, 1:15 pm, 3:30 pm, 7:00 pm, 8:30 pm and 11:00 pm. Sabharwal further asked the officers to ensure that all the requisite arrangements should be put in place well in time.

Meanwhile, the Special Secretary and Director Transport accompanied by ADC (G) Major Amit Sareen and other officers of different departments held a meeting at DAC to finalize the sequence of event to be held on June 15. Necessary directions have been issued to the departments for completion of arrangements by June 14 for smooth conduct of event. 

A sapling has also been planted by officers jointly in the premises of bus stand near gate number-5.Prominent amongst those present on the occasion included Additional Deputy Commissioner (D) Varinder Pal Singh Bajwa, DCP Jagmohan Singh, Deputy Director Parneet Singh Minhas, SDM Balbir Raj Singh, GM Roadways Maninder Pal Singh, GS Rajpal and others.
