Alumni Association of SCD Govt. College, Ludhiana is upbeat over their alumnus Onkar Singh Pahwa’s (CMD Avon Cycles) felicitation with Udyog Rattan award by Shri M Venkaih Naidu,Vice President Of India and Chancellor of Panjab University at its 69th convocation in Chandigarh.Pahwa has recently been taken as Chief Patron of the Alumni Association by the alumni of the college. S S Bhogal also an alumnus and prominent industrialist said that this was PU’s befitting choice for Udyog Rattan award from one of university’s own alumni who excelled as an entrepreneur .
Brij Bhushan Goyal, Organizing Secretary of the association said that the gesture of PU honoring Pahwa will instill confidence in the new generation of the college to excel by persistent hard work to get such recognition and adopt entrepreneurship rather than seeking jobs. Principal of the college Dr. Pardeep Singh Walia, in his message said that this was a proud moment for the college on it’s alumnus Pahwa’s well deserved recognition by their university. K B Singh, VP of alumni association(DGP PNB Retd.) spoke highly of Pahwa’s contribution to MSMEs by giving work to many ancillary units in the cycle parts industry.
Mr M P Arora,IAS(retd.)and O P Verma PCS (retd.)both alumni also spoke about Pahwa’s philanthropic pursuits in health care and education. College senior teachers viz, Dr Harblas Heera, Dr. Kamal Kishore,Prof.Sajla,Prof Geetanjli. Dr P D Gupta , Prof Deepak Chopra, Dr Satya Rani (All Alumni also) too appreciated this gesture of university in felicitating Onkar Singh Pahwa .Last Udyog Rattan award given by PU was in 2018 to Sunil Kant Munjal (Hero Group) is also an alumnus of the college.
