Assembly election-2022: second randomization of polling staff in the presence of three general observers posted in the district

A second randomization of the polling staff to be deployed during the Assembly elections was carried out today at District Administrative Complex in the presence of all three General Observers IAS Mr. Mohammad Zubair Ali Hashmi, IAS Mr. K. Mahesh and IAS Mr. Ajay Gupta posted in SAS Nagar. It was disclosed by Mrs.Isha Kalia Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Electoral Officer SAS Nagar.Regarding the revised election schedule by the Election Commission of India, the Deputy Commissioner said that the polls would now be held on February 20 and the scrutiny of nomination papers would be held on February 2.  She said that nominations could be withdrawn on February 4 and counting of votes would take place on March 10.During the second randomization, the Deputy Commissioner along with the officials involved in the election process informed the General Observers that the second randomization of the polling parties has been done using the software 'DISE' technology of the Chief Electoral Officer.  

She said that using this software necessary staff was distributed to the returning officers of 3 assembly constituencies of SAS Nagar district.  She said that 907 polling booths would be set up in the district.  In addition, as per the instructions of Election Commission of India,  231 polling parties have been kept reserved whereas 25 per cent staff has also been kept reserved.She said that keeping in view the COVID-19 instructions, training for staff for Kharar assembly constituency will be held at Polytechnic College Khunimajra, for S.A.S. Nagar constituency at Government Model Senior, Secondary School, Phase 3B1 Mohali and for Dera Bassi constituency will be provided at Government College Dera Bassi in 3 batches on 6th and 13th February.  The three batches are scheduled from 9.30 am to 11 am, 12 noon to 2 pm and 3 pm to 5 pm.Reiterating her commitment to conduct the election process in a peaceful and transparent manner, the District Electoral Officer said that all necessary arrangements would be made to ensure free and fair elections in the district.Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Mrs. Komal Mittal, District Election Administrative Officers were also present in the meeting.
