The Mission Director (MD), Women Empowerment, Shabnam Shah Kamili today held a review meeting on the functioning of Mahila Shakti Kendras in the UT of J&K with focused emphasis on the aspirational districts viz Baramulla and Kupwara.This scheme was launched in 2017 as a centrally sponsored scheme to empower women through community participation. It aims to facilitate inter sectoral convergence of schemes and programs meant for women.It is mandatory to have a District Level Task Force headed by a Concerned Deputy Commissioner for review and monitoring at their respective levels.

Kamili was informed about the initiatives undertaken for Mahila Shashaktikaran. She sought details of utilization of funds so far and progress achieved during the 2021- 2022.The MD directed Nodal Officers of all districts to submit the utilization certificates in a week's time and closely monitor and implement the scheme in letter and spirit. She also stressed upon identifying distressed women beneficiaries across UT to be linked with livelihood initiatives.The meeting was attended by District Social Welfare Officers who have been nominated as Nodal Officers for Women Centric Scheme. Women welfare officers of Mahila Shakti Kendra scheme also participated in the meeting.
