Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, on Tuesday, said that if General Dyer was responsible for the Jallianwala massacre then why not the Badals for firing on innocent  and peaceful protesters in  Bargari case. While addressing a huge gathering here at grain market in Sunam, CM Channi said that our great revolutionary Shaheed Udham Singh  had waited for years to avenge the massacre of Jallianwala Bagh where hundreds of innocent people were killed by the Britishers on the orders of General Dyer.CM Channi said  that unarmed Sikhs who were peacefully chanting hymns were killed in the firing in Bargari case and son-father duo Sukhbir Singh Badal and Parkash Singh Badal, leaders of  Akali Dal, are solely responsible for this incident.Saluting the contribution of Shaheed Udham Singh in the freedom struggle, the CM Channi said that his head bows in reverence  for this land which has produced the great revolutionary Shaheed Udham Singh and he was also feeling honoured that the memorial at Sunam Udham Singh Wala has come up  during the tenure of his government adding that he was the Tourism Minister at that time and Daman Thind Bajwa approached him urging the approval of the memorial which  led to the construction of this memorial.CM Channi said that his government would soon unveil the statue of Sher-e-Punjab Maharaja Ranjit Singh at village Badrukhan near  Sangrur city as the preparations were already in full swing.

CM Channi said that his government was proactively engaged in resolving the issues being faced by the common people of the state which was clearly visible from the recent  decisions. CM Channi said that in the past, Badals looted the state exchequer and right after taking office as CM, he had directed the newly inducted Cabinet Minister Raja  Warring to act tough against the illegal transport business of Badals."I asked Raja Warring that I want to see the illegal buses of Badals impounded in the police stations. He acted  accordingly and could be seen wholeheartedly chasing the buses and acting against the defaulters sternly," said CM Channi while praising his cabinet colleague. While training guns at Sukhbir Singh Badal, CM Channi said that he was trying to copy his actions but has failed miserably to win over the confidence of people whom they  mercilessly looted during their tenure. Terming AAP leader Kejriwal as an outsider, the CM said that Punjab is not the shamlaat land and Punjabis will never let any outsider to  take over the power. He added that Kejriwal has tendered an unconditional apology to the Akali leader Bikram Singh Majithia in the drugs issue but his government has lodged  an FIR against Majithia which has landed the Akali leader in the soup.

CM Channi announced the up-gradation of government health institutions at Sunam and Longowal and  said that his government has also sanctioned Rs. 7 crore for the up-gradation of roads in Sunam constituency. He also handed over cheques of development grants to  panchayats of Sunam under 'Punjab Nirman Program'. He also gave a cheque of financial assistance of Rs. 1 lakh to a needy woman, Kirna Rani, hailing from Lehra town of the  district.Meanwhile, Cabinet Minister Vijay Inder Singla also thanked the Chief Minister for providing much needed relief to the residents of Punjab. Singla also apprised the Chief  Minister and people regarding the recent developments in Sangrur district which were focused on generating employment and improving health services.Transport Minister  Amarinder Singh Raja Warring also expressed gratitude to CM Channi for constructing the memorial of Shaheed Udham Singh at Sunam. While thanking CM Channi for his pro- people decisions, Congress leader Daman Thind Bajwa said that CM Channi is not the Chief Minister of a particular party rather he has taken several pro-people decisions for  the welfare of the residents of the state. On this occasion, IG Patiala range MS Chhina, DC Sangrur Ramvir, SSP Swapan Sharma, ADC Anmol Singh Dhaliwal, SDM Sunam Jaspreet  Singh, Harmandev Singh Bajwa, Chairperson Punjab Agro Geeta Sharma, industrialist Ghanshyam Kansal, President MC Sunam Udham Singh Wala Nishan Singh, Chairman  Market Committee Sunam Munish Soni, President Nagar Panchayat Cheema Avtar Singh Taari and Kulwant Rai Singla among several others were also present.
