Mayor Ravikant Sharma while countering the Covid Cess allegations posed by Congress has clarified that revenue generated by Municipal Corporation is being spent on  Covid relief and other health facilities. Mayor informed during a press briefing held at Kamalam– party office on Sunday that the Corporation managed a sum of Rs 28 Cr in the form of Covid Cess during the global pandemic which is now being spent in various relief works and health services.Citing the financial crisis during Congress's tenure, he said corporations over the last six years have strengthened its economical position without imposing any tax . He said 23,710 residents contributed a total of  Rs. 2,27,46,872 through the PM Care Fund. Besides that, 110 party workers had dedicated round the clock to serve covid patients.

When the exodus was at its peak during lockdown, transport facility was provided to 3100 pedestrians. 2291 party volunteers initiated various programs to fight back against Corona.He said Arogya Setu App was downloaded by 3.34 lakhs residents while helpline counters were set up by the party at various places which further helped 2280 people. Party workers organised various blood camps and collected 697 units during their campaigns.Elaborating the Covid relief tasks, Sharma said more than 2400 party workers engaged to provide relief to the public. As many as 52 cooks prepared 75,000 food packets and were distributed daily.  A total of 32,99,515  food packets and 11, 652 dry ration packets were distributed to the people. Apart from that, 5.50 lakh masks were distributed by the party volunteers.“Congress should report to the city residents what all they had done as part of relief work during the Covid times instead of playing blame games.” sums up Sharma.
